Woman commits suicide on wedding anniversary in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 17 October (H.S.): The hanging body of a woman was recovered from a forest ranger's home in Alipurduar on Friday morning. Police sources said the deceased woman has been identified as Shilpi De Sarkar. Her husband, Sajal De, is posted as a ranger at Garumara National Park. The couple has a 12-year-old daughter.

According to sources, Thursday was their wedding anniversary. Shilpi was waiting for her husband to return home, but Sajal did not return until 12:00 midnight. Overwhelmed by sadness and depression, Shilpi committed suicide at home.

On Friday morning, when the housekeeper arrived for work, she found Shilpi's body hanging. She immediately alerted neighbors. On information, Sajal arrived home and informed the police. The police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.

Preliminary investigations have led police to suspect that Shilpi took this extreme step out of depression and despair. Sajal stated that he had suddenly received news of an elephant death from the national park, preventing him from returning home on time. Sajal said he never imagined the situation could become so serious.

The police have launched an investigation into the case and are looking into all aspects.
