of Food Engineers and Technologists, Sam Higginbottom University of

Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), organized ESSEN 2.0 on Friday— a

day filled with engaging competitions such as poster presentation, quiz

competition, treasure hunt and an entrepreneurship skill competition. The

entrepreneurship competition was an experiential learning event where young

professionals were required to conceptualize a food product, prepare it, and

sell it — simulating a real-world business environment.

The

Chancellor of SHUATS, Dr. J. A. Oliver expressed confidence, stating, I

am confident that our students and faculty of Processing and Food Engineering

possess the talent and expertise to compete with those from highly developed

countries in the global food sector.

Vice

Chancellor of SHUATS, Prof. R. B. Lal, encouraged the students, mentors and

faculty members of the Vaugh Institute of Agricultural Engineering and

Technology to focus 'job-ready' by conducting various skill development and

training programs.

Pro

Vice Chancellor academics, Prof. Jonathan A. Lal, emphasized the importance of

young professionals continuously engaging with skills to bridge traditional

Indian food knowledge with modern, high-impact innovations. He stated that such

efforts are vital to addressing both national and global food needs and could

contribute to combating various diseases through nutritional interventions. Dean

of VIAET Prof. Ashok Tripathi said we are SHUATS are dedicated towards nation

building by organizing such type of programs to showcase student and faculty

potential. Prof. Ajay K. Singh, Director of Auxiliary Services, highlighted the

significance of experiential learning and the role of Micro, Small, and Medium

Enterprises (MSMEs) in shaping future food technologists and entrepreneurs.

The

event was successfully coordinated by the organizing committee comprising RN

Shukla, Aditya Lal, Hena Imtiyaz, Avanish Kumar, Atul Mishra, and KC Yadav with

the active participation of students including Rananjay Singh, Animesh, Nitin,

Abhishek Pandey, Vivek Sharma, Rishikesh Shravan, Anurag Singh, among others.
