Delhi, 17 October (H.S.): Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, accompanied by Delhi's Education Minister Ashish Sood, visited the Sarvodaya Co-Ed Vidyalaya in Rohini on Friday to observe the city's public education system firsthand. During the tour, Dr. Amarasuriya was briefed on the transformative initiatives implemented in Delhi's government schools.

Education Minister Sood provided a detailed overview of the structural changes, state-of-the-art infrastructure, smart classrooms, and innovative teaching methodologies that form the core of Delhi's educational reforms. He highlighted the integration of digital learning systems designed to equip students for future challenges.

The Sri Lankan Prime Minister, who is also an academic and a former Minister of Education, engaged extensively with students and teachers. Students presented their projects and shared their experiences with digital learning, which deeply impressed the visiting delegation.

Dr. Amarasuriya praised the Delhi government's education policy, remarking that it could serve as an inspirational model for other developing nations.

It is a matter of great pride for us that a foreign Prime Minister has personally come to see the educational system in Delhi's government schools, said Minister Sood.

This visit strengthens the dialogue and cooperation in education between India and Sri Lanka, reinforcing our shared belief that quality education is the foundation of a nation's progress.

He added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government is committed to preparing every child for the future by providing access to modern education and technology. Sood described the visit as a symbol of the success of Delhi's educational reforms and a step toward a new era of knowledge-sharing between the two South Asian democracies.

Dr. Amarasuriya is on a three-day official visit to India, her first since assuming office. An alumna of Delhi University's Hindu College, her visit has also included nostalgic returns to her alma mater and high-level meetings focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation.
