Lucknow, 17 Oct (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath transferred
scholarships to the accounts of nearly five lakh youth through DBT at a
scholarship distribution ceremony organized by the Backward Classes Welfare
Department at Lok Bhavan. For the first time, the government began distributing
scholarships in September, starting with the financial year 2025-26. In his
address, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated all the students. He
noted that previously, there was discrimination in the scholarship selection
process. In 2016-17, scholarships belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled
Tribe students were snatched away, but this no longer happens. Now, 6.2 lakh
students in the state are receiving scholarships. When we came to power, we
decided to distribute scholarships to students in two installments, not at the
end of the year. This is now possible. This symbolizes a changed system. He
said that scholarships are now being distributed to students through DBT, so
that students do not have to wander around. On this occasion, the Chief
Minister appealed to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students to attend
school and ensure their education. This will transform the entire society.
In the first phase, around Rs. 62.13 crore has been
given to 2.5 lakh OBC students of classes 9 to 12. In the second phase, Rs.
126.68 crore was given to over 4.83 lakh students on Friday.
Government moving from e-governance to easy governance: On this
occasion, UP government minister Asim Arun said that as per the instructions of
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UP government is now moving from e-governance
to easy governance.
