Guwahati, 17 October (HS): Amid intense speculation over the death of Indian singer Zubeen Garg, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) has clarified that no foul play is suspected at this stage, though investigations will continue under the provisions of the Coroners Act, 2010.

In an official statement, the SPF said the inquiry remains open and is being carried out “thoroughly and professionally.” Preliminary assessments have found no evidence of criminal involvement, but the final conclusions will depend on the ongoing investigation, which could take another three months.

Once completed, the police will submit all findings to the State Coroner, who will then decide whether to hold a formal Coroner’s Inquiry — a judicial process meant to determine the exact cause and circumstances of death. The results of this inquiry will be made public.

The SPF also confirmed that it had already shared the autopsy report and preliminary findings with the High Commission of India in Singapore on October 1, following a formal request.

Urging restraint from the public and media, the police appealed against the circulation of unverified claims. “We ask for patience and understanding from all concerned parties,” the statement read, reaffirming that the investigation will continue with full diligence, transparency, and objectivity.----------
