East Medinipur, 17 October (H.S.): The dead body of a missing man was recovered from a pond in Kalyanchak village under the Nandakumar police station area in East Medinipur district. The deceased has been identified as Vikas Bera (40), a bus conductor by profession. He had been missing for the past three days.

As per information, locals spotted a body floating in the pond behind the village primary school. Nandakumar police station was immediately informed. The police arrived at the scene and sent the body for autopsy.

According to police sources, blood stains were found on the deceased's nose and mouth, raising suspicions of murder. The deceased's family has also alleged that the body was thrown away after being murdered.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
