Kolkata, 17 October (H.S.): A woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in Chhatakal area of Dumdum on Friday. The incident occurred in front of their 10-year-old son.

The police from Nagerbazar police station have launched an investigation and are searching for the absconding accused, Amit Bose. Police initially suspect that the husband and wife had a long-standing dispute and the murder was fueled by anger.

The police said that the deceased has been identified as Beauty Bose.

The dead body has been sent to RG Kar hospital for autopsy. According to preliminary investigations, it is unclear whether the murder was committed by strangulation alone or by some other method. This will be clear only after the post-mortem report is available.

Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing the child's cries and informed the police. The deceased woman's family filed a written complaint at Nagerbazar police station. The police found the 10-year-old son safe and recorded his statement.

The police said that a search operation is underway in the area to arrest the accused in this murder case and all aspects are being investigated.
