Murshidabad, 17 October (H.S.):

A sensational case of firing during a birthday party has come to light in Baharampur in Murshidabad district. A young man was injured in the incident. The injured man has been admitted to Murshidabad Medical College Hospital. As of Friday, the police have arrested a total of 14 people in connection with the incident, and the search for others involved is ongoing. The motive for the shootout is being investigated. The arrested individuals are being questioned.

The injured man is Saurabh Rai. October 15th was Saurabh's birthday, and a party was held at a home in the local Phansithal area. More than 20 people attended. During the party, a fight broke out between friends, which later escalated into a major altercation. A young man suddenly pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking Saurabh in the leg. Saurabh was taken to Murshidabad Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where he is undergoing treatment.

On information, the police from the Baharampur police station arrived at the scene and initially arrested three people. Later, other suspects were apprehended, making a total of 14 arrests. According to police sources, all those arrested are residents of the Amaniganj area of Lalbagh. A case has been registered against them under various sections. The police are also investigating whether anyone else was involved in the incident.
