There was a commotion in Salt Lake on Thursday night when an accused, in a filmy style, tried to escape from a building using a pipe in front of Kolkata Police, who had gone to arrest four notorious criminals from Gujarat. The police have arrested three of the criminals, while one is still at large.

According to police sources, these four criminals were wanted in the murder case of a businessman from Kuchman area of Rajasthan. Acting on a tip-off, Kolkata Police raided Purvanchal Housing Complex in Salt Lake on Thursday night. At first two criminals were apprehended on the spot, but the other two escaped.

One of the escaped criminals hid on the roof of a Cluster-Four building and tried to escape whenever he got a chance. It is reported that he first tried to enter a flat by posing as a policeman and then hid on the roof cornice. Later, he jumped from one building to another and started climbing down using a pipe. Security personnel and police gave chase and finally apprehended him near Bengal Academy in

Phoolbagan police station area.

However, the fourth accused remains at large and the search is ongoing. The arrested criminals have been identified as Ganpat Gurjar, Dharmendra Gurjar, and Zuber Ahmed, while the absconding accused has been identified as Mahesh Gurjar.

This incident has spread panic in residential areas of Salt Lake. A local resident said, Suddenly, at night, a man claiming to be a police officer tried to enter the house. Later, we saw him climbing down holding a pipe, and police in civilian clothes were following him from behind. We are all very scared by such an incident.

Kolkata Police stated that the absconding accused will be apprehended soon.
