Delhi, 17 October (H.S.): Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has directed officials to ensure the timely and effective implementation of two flagship government schemes: the ‘Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission’ and the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’.

During a high-level review meeting on Friday, the minister emphasized that the swift, ground-level execution of these initiatives is crucial for delivering direct benefits to farmers. To accelerate the rollout of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’, Chouhan announced he will soon convene a meeting with ministers from 11 stakeholder ministries and officials from the NITI Aayog. This scheme aims to promote agricultural advancement in 100 aspirational districts by integrating 36 sub-schemes.

For the ‘Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission’, which will be implemented through district-level clusters, Chouhan instructed officials to hold meetings with nodal officers of the concerned states. This mission seeks to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses by increasing the cultivation area from 275 lakh to 310 lakh hectares and raising production from 242 lakh to 350 lakh tonnes by 2030–31.

Both ambitious schemes were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11, 2025. The ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ has a six-year term with an annual outlay of ₹24,000 crore, while the pulses mission has a financial outlay of ₹11,440 crore over six years.
