North 24 Parganas, 16 October (H.S.): Acting on credible information, the police from Khardah police station in North 24 Parganas district conducted a raid and arrested three accused in quick succession. The police also recovered a 7mm pistol, a magazine, and five live rounds of ammunition.

According to police sources, Khardah police team initially raided and arrested Shamim Hussain alias Gill. Based on his statement during interrogation, the police also arrested the second accused, Jeet Sikdar alias Babin.

Subsequently, acting on Jeet Sikdar's statement, Khardah police team raided Halishahar police station area and arrested the third accused, Suvendu Mitra alias Dipu (31). Police recovered a 7mm pistol, a magazine, and five live rounds of ammunition from him.

Police officials say that interrogation of the arrested accused is ongoing and it is being investigated what activities the weapons were intended to be used for. A case has been registered under relevant sections and further legal action is being taken.
