Guwahati, 16 October (HS): Amid heightened public sentiment over the death of renowned artist Zubeen Garg, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Garg’s memorial in Baksa district on Friday to pay his respects.

Political circles view Gandhi’s visit as an effort to connect with public emotions and signal the Congress party’s active presence in Assam. Party sources suggest that he may also comment on the current law-and-order situation in the state and the role of the government.

Ahead of his arrival, security agencies have been deployed at the memorial and surrounding areas, with central forces stationed to prevent any untoward incidents. The local administration has also ensured a strong police presence.
