Bhubaneswar, 16 October (H.S.): In a major push ahead of the Nuapada Assembly by-election, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a series of development initiatives, asserting that the district’s progress is his “personal responsibility.”
Addressing a massive public rally, the Chief Minister declared, “I give my word, and I keep it.” He assured the crowd that Nuapada is set to witness a new era of growth under a ‘double-engine government’ led by the BJP at both the Centre and the State.
Taking a sharp dig at the previous BJD-led government, CM Majhi alleged that past chief ministers had failed to deliver on their electoral promises. He reiterated his government’s earlier commitment of ₹1,100 crore worth of development projects for Nuapada, emphasizing that the BJP government stands by its word and performance.
Accusing the opposition of lacking grassroots leadership, Majhi said, “The BJD failed to find a suitable local candidate and had to import one from another district. The people of Nuapada will never accept outsiders.”
Condemning personal remarks made against BJP candidate Jay Dholakia, the Chief Minister said such attacks were unacceptable and criticised the BJD leadership for remaining silent. He added that the voters of Nuapada would deliver their response through the ballot.
Expressing confidence in a decisive BJP victory, CM Majhi said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government aims to take development to new heights, working towards ‘Samruddha Odisha by 2036’ and ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047.’”
Highlighting the government’s welfare focus, Majhi underlined that the BJP-led administration is committed to empowering farmers, the poor, women, and youth, ensuring their inclusion in the mainstream of progress and prosperity.
