Bahraich, 16 Oct (HS): Late at night, villagers alerted a
forest department team combing the area about the wolf. The forest department
team arrived at the scene and began searching for it. The team attempted to
surround and capture it, but when it failed to be caught, a shooter shot the
wolf dead around 4 a.m. A man-eating wolf, which had become a symbol of terror
in Manjhara Taukli, located in the Fakharpur block of Kaiserganj tehsil in
Bahraich district, was shot dead by a forest department shooter this morning.
The wolf's body has been brought to the range office at the headquarters, where
it will be cremated after an autopsy. Late Wednesday night, villagers in Bhirgu
Purva village, located in the Majhara Taukli area, alerted a forest department
team combing the area about the wolf. Following this, Divisional Forest Officer
Ram Singh Yadav and DFO Ghazipur Ajit Singh arrived at the scene with their
team and began searching for it. The team attempted to surround and capture the
wolf, but when it failed to be caught, the shooter shot the wolf at around 4
a.m., resulting in its death. Forest Officer Ram Singh Yadav stated that six
people have died and approximately 29 others have been injured in wolf attacks
in this area over the past month. A wolf was shot this morning. A wolf was
previously killed on September 28. Two wolves were also shot on September 30
and August 11 and are missing.
