Zubeen Garg Case: All 5 Accused Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody

Guwahati, 15 October (HS): In connection with the death case of popular singer Zubeen Garg, the court on Wednesday sent all five accused to 14 days of judicial custody.

The accused include NorthEast India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma, his cousin Sandipan Garg and two of his personal security officers — Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya.

Senior advocate Pradip Konwar informed the media that none of the accused have filed for bail so far. Meanwhile, Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma and the three other accused have been transferred to Baksa District Jail in Nikasi.

Advocate Konwar also stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has not yet sought custody of Shyamkanu Mahanta. Any decision to transfer the accused outside Assam for security reasons will be taken by the court based on requests from investigating agencies.

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is currently at a crucial stage and further interrogation of the accused will continue during this period.-----------
