Morigaon (Assam), 15 October (HS): In a tragic incident, two brothers from Barpeta district lost their lives when their newly purchased pickup truck caught fire during its first journey. The horrific accident occurred on National Highway-27 near Jagiroad in Morigaon district, police sources said on Wednesday.
According to Jagiroad Police, preliminary reports suggest that the Bolero Max pickup truck ( AS-15AC-9919) was transporting a consignment of vegetables from Barpeta Road to Silchar. The vehicle reportedly lost control and hit the road divider at high speed, likely due to a mechanical failure, which caused the truck to burst into flames within moments.
Both the driver and his assistant were trapped inside the vehicle and burned alive before rescue teams could reach the spot. The deceased have been identified as Rohiz Ali and Bachchu Ali, residents of Naligaon village in Barpeta district.
Emergency responders and local police from Jagiroad rushed to the scene and managed to douse the fire, but by then, the charred remains of the victims were recovered from the wreckage. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and whether it resulted from technical malfunction or overspeeding. ---------
