Mumbai, 15 Oct (HS):
The Customs Office on Tuesday seized narcotic drugs worth Rs 5.45 crore from a
couple coming from Colombo, Shri Lanka. The drugs were seized at Mumbai’s
International Airport. The couple was presented in a court, which remanded them
magisterial custody till October 28.
The Customs officials
told on Wednesday that Mohammad Saud Siddiqi (29) and his wife Sana Siddiqi
(27) carried the drugs illegally. Based on the intelligence report, their
luggage was checked and three airtight packets containing hydroponic marijuana
was found concealed in a bag.
An offence under the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the two.
Further investigation is in progress.
