Bhubaneswar, 15 October (H.S.): In a major enforcement action against illegal firecracker sales, Simulia police seized firecrackers valued at approximately ₹3 lakh from Ada Bazar in Balasore district.
Acting on a tip-off, Simulia IIC Shravan Kumar Maharana led a late-night raid in the market area, where S.K. Karim was found selling firecrackers in a residential locality, allegedly in violation of government safety regulations.
During the operation, the police team, which included SI Kshirod Kumar Sahu, ASI Bishwajit Sethi, and other personnel, detained Karim and confiscated a substantial stock of firecrackers being stored and sold without authorization.
Police officials emphasized that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in unauthorized storage and sale of firecrackers, particularly ahead of the festive season, when such activities significantly increase fire hazards in residential areas.
