Delhi, 14 October (H.S.): Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday praised the government's comprehensive initiatives in labour reform and youth empowerment, describing India's ambition to host the Olympic Games as a potential game-changer for the nation's sporting ecosystem.

The Vice-President's remarks came after a meeting with Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and his Ministers of State, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje and Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse. The ministerial delegation briefed him on key policy reforms and achievements at Parliament House.

VP Radhakrishnan lauded the Ministry of Labour’s efforts to simplify laws and create universal social security for workers through platforms like the E-Shram Portal. He expressed satisfaction with the ministry's commitment to improving workers' welfare and contributing to the nation's inclusive economic growth.

Reviewing the initiatives of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Vice-President appreciated the 'Mera Yuva Bharat' (MY Bharat) portal for engaging young people in nation-building. He also highlighted the significance of youth exchange programs in promoting cultural understanding and strengthening the spirit of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' (One India, Supreme India).

In the realm of sports, the Vice-President praised the remarkable international performances of Indian athletes, especially women, and commended programs like Khelo India and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). He strongly endorsed the ministry’s efforts to host major international sporting events, observing that such initiatives would give a significant boost to sports development and strengthen India’s position as a rising global sporting nation.
