14 Oct (HS):Banda district police have achieved a major success.

A joint team from the Mataundh police station and the Special Operations Group

(SOG) solved a robbery within 24 hours and arrested an interstate criminal

during a police encounter. Police recovered an illegal pistol, cartridges, and

looted cash from the accused.

This

action was taken on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police as part of

a campaign to apprehend criminals and control crime in the district. It was

reported that on Monday, three unidentified miscreants robbed cash from Gobind

Kumar, son of Bala Prasad, a resident of Khaipar, near the Jogini Temple in the

Kotwali Nagar area. A case was registered at the Mataundh police station in

connection with the incident, and police teams were deployed to investigate and

make arrests. In this sequence, on Tuesday, the Mataundh police station and the

Special Operations Group (SOG) team were checking suspicious individuals and

vehicles near the Chamraha village turn on Gaurihar Road. They then received

information from an informant that a man was standing near the Chandrika Devi

Temple, Hardauni Bashari Road, armed with an illegal weapon, likely to crime.

Upon

receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene and asked the

suspect to surrender. However, finding himself cornered, the suspect opened

fire on the police team. Police returned fire in self-defense, hitting the

suspect in the leg. The injured suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital

for treatment, where his condition is reported to be stable.

Additional

Superintendent of Police Shivraj said the arrested accused has been identified

as Brajendra alias Bhau, son of Ramsevak, a resident of Mudehra, Police Station

Prakash Bamhori, Chhatarpur District (Madhya Pradesh). Police recovered an

illegal pistol, two live cartridges, two empty cartridges, and Rs 1,720 in

looted cash from him.

It

was reported that the accused, Brajendra alias Bhau, already has several

criminal cases registered against him in Banda and Mahoba districts. Police are

investigating his criminal activities and network, while a search is underway

for other absconding associates.

Meanwhile,

in another incident in Orai district notorious gangster Ramji Patel, who

carried a bounty of Rs. 25,000 was shot and injured in a shootout with police

under Aata police station area during wee hours.

Superintendent

of Police Dr. Dhuresh Kumar, who arrived at the scene after the incident, said

that the accused has more than two dozen cases registered against him. The

incident occurred near a passenger waiting room on the road to Ukasa, in the

Aata police station area. Police received credible information that notorious

gangster Ramji Patel, a resident of Sandhi village, was heading towards the

Govindam Hotel, planning a crime. Based on this information, Jalaun Kotwali

Inspector Ajay Brahma Tiwari and Aata Police Station Officer Ajay Kumar formed

a joint team, devised a strategy for an encounter, and waited for the suspect.

As the police team attempted to stop Ramji Patel, he fired three rounds at the

police without warning. In self-defense and to control the situation, the

police had to return fire, and a bullet struck Ramji Patel in the leg. He fell

to the ground, injured. Police immediately brought him under control and, after

providing first aid, rushed him to the hospital, where his condition is

reported to be stable.

Superintendent

of Police Orai, Dr. Durgesh Kumar stated that the arrested Ramji Patel is a

notorious and active criminal. He has more than two dozen theft cases

registered against him in the district. He also faces two cases under the Uttar

Pradesh Gangsters Act. A reward of Rs. 25,000 was announced for his arrest. The

SP stated that Ramji Patel was constantly active and that the police had

recently received information that he was involved in a major crime plot.
