Former India opener Virender Sehwag expressed profound joy and pride as Rahul Soreng, son of the late Head Constable Vijay Soreng who was martyred in the 2019 Pulwama attack, earned a well-deserved place in Haryana’s Under-19 cricket team.

Rahul, a student of Sehwag International School since 2019, has been nurtured through Sehwag’s initiative to provide free education and support for children of CRPF soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the tragic Jammu-Srinagar highway attack.Sehwag took to social media to share a heartfelt message congratulating Rahul on his selection, highlighting the journey marked by resilience and determination.

“Congratulations to Rahul Soreng on being selected in the under-19 Haryana team. Since his brave father attained martyrdom in Pulwama, it has been my privilege to support Rahul and I am extremely proud of his journey,” he wrote.

Rahul has previously represented Haryana at the Under-14 and Under-16 levels, steadily progressing in his cricketing career. He joined Sehwag International School in Class 4 and is presently a Class 10 student. Sehwag’s ongoing commitment to supporting martyr’s children is exemplified in Rahul’s inspiring rise, symbolizing hope and the enduring spirit of sacrifice.
