Kolkata, 11 October (H.S.): Two brave soldiers from West Bengal were martyred after being trapped in a blizzard during an army operation against terrorists in Anantnag, Kashmir. The martyrs were Lance Havildar Palash Ghosh (38), a resident of Murshidabad, and Lance Naik Sujoy Ghosh (28), a resident of Birbhum. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep condolences over this incident and extended condolences to the families of the martyrs.

The Chief Minister wrote on her X handle on Saturday, I am deeply saddened by the martyrdom of two brave Para Commandos from Bengal during an anti-terrorist operation in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, amid adverse weather and snowfall. I salute Lance Naik Sujoy Ghosh of Birbhum and Lance Havildar Palash Ghosh of Murshidabad for their extraordinary courage, dedication, and sacrifice in defending the nation. The state government will provide all possible assistance to both families in this hour of grief.

The mortal remains of the two brave sons are expected to be brought to their native village on Saturday. An atmosphere of mourning has descended upon the entire area, and a sense of both pride and grief is evident among the villagers.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the state government stands with the families of the martyrs and will provide them with all possible government assistance.
