New Delhi, October 11 (H.S.) – The Bharatiya Janata Party has targeted the Kerala government over the gold theft case at the Sabarimala Temple, alleging that Left governments have turned Sanatan institutions into hubs of loot and corruption.
BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh, attacking the Kerala government, said that the gold theft from one of the country’s most revered temples, Sabarimala, is shameful. He demanded an impartial investigation and strict action against the culprits, saying that playing with devotees’ faith is unacceptable.
Speaking to the media at the BJP headquarters on Saturday, Chugh said that the Left government in Kerala has made Hindu temples centers of corruption. He added that the state government’s handling of the SIT probe indicates political interference and protection. Accountability must be fixed and the guilty punished, he said, questioning how temple valuables could be moved around for 39 days without trace.
Chugh further said that the Left government in Kerala has been involved in temple gold loot for years, turning the sacred places into dens of corruption. This is distressing news for Sanatan devotees across the world, he added, urging an immediate and transparent investigation followed by strict action against those responsible.
It is noteworthy that on Friday, the Kerala High Court ordered the registration of a criminal case in the gold misappropriation incident linked to the Sabarimala temple’s threshold. The court directed the state police to begin an investigation. According to the vigilance report, about 474.9 grams of gold had been handed over to Unnikrishnan Potti. The SIT has been instructed not to share details of the probe with the public.
