Budaun,
11 Oct (HS): Maulana Tauqeer Raza, who is imprisoned in Fatehgarh Central Jail
in connection with the incident in Bareilly on September 26, owes more than Rs
28,000 to a cooperative organization in Budaun district. Officials stated on
Saturday that there is still an outstanding sum for a loan he accepted nearly
three decades ago, and that attempts are being made to retrieve it.
Raza's
loan of Rs 5,055, taken from the Sadhan Sahkari Samiti in Rasulpur Puthi hamlet
in the district before 1997, has now grown to Rs 28,346. Committee secretary
Hridayesh Kumar Singh said on Saturday that when checking a list of loan
defaulters, he came across the name Tauqeer Raza. Following an examination, he
discovered that the defaulter was the same Tauqeer Raza whose name surfaced in
connection with the Bareilly incident.
Singh
stated that Raza obtained the loan to buy fertilizer, but despite many
notifications, he did not refund the sum, which has now escalated to Rs 28,346.
Raza and his family have sold their farm and relocated from the area since
then. Singh stated that higher officials have been notified of the situation,
and the loan amount will be retrieved soon. Budaun District Magistrate Avanish
Rai stated on Saturday that Raza owes more than Rs 28,000 to the Sadhan Sahkari
Samiti. Munnalal Mishra, the assistant registrar of cooperatives, notified Rai
that a notice to Raza will be given shortly to collect the loan money.
Meanwhile,
Maulana Tauqeer's close associates Nafees, Nadeem, Munir and Anees are accused
of conspiracy and have been named in all 10 cases. The police investigation
into the Bareilly riots is ongoing. Seven more accused have been added to the
cases filed in connection with the riots. All of them have been charged with
conspiracy.
Dr.
Nafees, Nadeem, Munir Idrishi, Councilor Anees, history-sheeter Nayab alias
Munna, Afzal Beg, and Farhat, who sheltered Maulana Tauqeer Raza, have been
named as conspirators in all 10 cases related to the September 26 riots in
Bareilly. They have also been charged under Section 61 of the Indian Penal Code
(IPC) for conspiracy. According to the police, they conspired with Maulana
Tauqeer to incite riots in the city. The Maulana has already been named as a
conspirator in all 10 cases.
On
September 26, a mob assembled at the call of IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer pelted
stones and fired at a police team. Bottles filled with petrol and pistols were
recovered from the scene. Ten cases were registered in connection with this
incident. Maulana Tauqeer has been named as a conspirator in the first case
filed at the police station. The Maulana's name has also been included as a
conspirator in nine other cases.
In
this case, the names of Chak Mahmood residents Faizal Nabi, Mobin Qureshi,
Sajid Sakalani, Kotwali Kishore Bazaar resident Subhan alias Churan, Dr.
Nafees's second son Farhan Raza Khan, and Qila resident Moin Khan have
surfaced. The police have disclosed their names in the case and will now arrest
them. SSP Anurag Arya stated that the jailed accused have been named as
conspirators in all 10 cases. The names of several other accused in the riot
have also come to light and they will be arrested. The truth of the September
26 riot in the city is gradually coming to light. CCTV footage surfaced on
Friday. In the video, a mob of rioters attacks the police on DAV College Road
near the Akash Hotel and forcibly removes barricades. A police team standing on
the other side is appealing to people to return home. Meanwhile, unruly
elements in the crowd are seen holding posters and shouting provocative
slogans. After shouting slogans for a while, the crowd attacked the police,
shoving them, and threw barricades at them. The crowd forcibly moved towards
DAV College. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed nearby. SSP
Anurag Arya stated that the police are identifying the rioters based on the new
videos and footage being received.
