West Burdwan, 11 October (H.S.): A home tutor in Durgapur surrendered at the police station after killing his wife. The deceased woman has been identified as Mukul Kar, while the accused, Durgadas Kar, has been arrested by the police.

According to police and local sources, the couple lived in a house in the Dhobighat area of Durgapur. A quarrel broke out between the husband and wife on Friday night. During the altercation, Durgadas Kar got enraged and attacked his wife, Mukul, with a sharp weapon, killing her on the spot.

Late at night, after the murder, Durgadas went straight to the police station and confessed to his wife's murder and surrendered. Police officers were initially shocked, but when the police arrived at the scene with the accused, they found Mukul Kar's blood-soaked body lying inside the room.

Neighbors said that Mukul Kar was very friendly and had good relations with everyone. Durgadas Kar was also known as a respected home tutor. Locals said there was never any serious dispute between the couple.

On Saturday, the police said the body had been sent for a postmortem and the accused was being questioned.
