Washington DC, October 11(HS): First Lady Melania Trump announced on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had responded to her letter advocating for the welfare of Ukrainian children affected by the Russia-Ukraine war, leading to the reunification of several displaced children with their families. The letter, hand-delivered to Putin during his visit to Alaska in August, urged the Russian leader to protect children caught in the conflict, emphasizing that such actions would benefit humanity as a whole.

Mrs. Trump revealed that eight children had been reunited within the past 24 hours, including three who were displaced to Russia due to frontline fighting and one girl returned from Ukraine to Russia. She highlighted that the reunifications were facilitated by cooperation between Ukraine and Russia, with the US government confirming the details, supported by reports and photographs.

The First Lady described how the issue has deepened her understanding since delivering the letter, noting that she received a written response from Putin and stressed that every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart—dreams of love, safety, and hope despite the turmoil around them.

This development marks a significant moment in Melania Trump's ongoing advocacy for children's well-being, which began with the launch of her BE BEST initiative in 2021, focusing on global child welfare. Her efforts also include championing legislation like the Take It Down Act against revenge porn, reinforcing her commitment to protecting children’s dignity and safety.
