Bhubaneswar, 11 October (H.S.)Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has strongly condemned the tragic incident of gangrape involving an Odia student in Durgapur, West Bengal, calling it “extremely shameful and painful.”

In a post on social media platform X , the Chief Minister expressed deep anguish over the incident, saying he was “deeply pained” after hearing about the ordeal faced by the student.

CM Majhi urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure exemplary legal action against the accused, stressing that justice must be delivered swiftly.

“I have directed senior officials to coordinate with the West Bengal government and take necessary measures in this sensitive matter,” he stated, adding that the Odisha government will extend all possible assistance to the victim and her family.

The Chief Minister also prayed for the early recovery of the survivor and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of Odia students studying outside the state.
