Uttarkashi, October 11 (H.S.) – During a national program held at the National Agricultural Science Centre, Pusa, New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Dhan Dhanya Kisan Yojana and the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission. The program also saw the inauguration and foundation-laying of over 1,100 projects in agricultural infrastructure, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors. The event was broadcast live in districts, with a large number of local farmers participating.
A live screening of the program was organized at the district auditorium under the supervision of the Agriculture Department. The event was attended by District Panchayat President Ramesh Chauhan and District Magistrate Prashant Arya. Over 100 progressive farmers of the district participated to gain insights about the new agricultural schemes. During the event, the District Panchayat President and the District Magistrate also distributed agricultural equipment to the farmers.
Various departmental stalls from agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, R.I.P., and animal husbandry departments were set up. District Panchayat President Ramesh Chauhan stated that the PM Dhan Dhanya Kisan Yojana and Pulses Self-Reliance Mission are transformative initiatives for farmers, which will not only enhance agricultural productivity but also play a vital role in empowering farmers economically. He added that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India is steadily progressing towards becoming a developed nation, with several government initiatives aimed at strengthening the agriculture-based economy.
District Magistrate Prashant Arya highlighted that the schemes were launched in the country’s aspirational districts, including Uttarakhand’s Almora and Chamoli. He explained that the schemes would be implemented in an integrated manner alongside 36 other schemes of the Government of India, enabling farmers to receive comprehensive benefits simultaneously.
The District Magistrate further emphasized that the Agriculture Department will ensure effective implementation of the schemes in aspirational districts and blocks. He encouraged farmers to select crops according to their land’s nature, climate, and local conditions to maximize production. He also motivated farmers to adopt scientific farming practices, crop diversification, organic farming, and group-based farming methods.
The program was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer S.S. Verma, CHO Dr. Rajneesh Singh, District Social Welfare Officer Sudhir Joshi, along with several other officials and a large number of farmers.
