Saharanpur,
01 Oct (HS): On Wednesday, police barred Congress MP Imran Masood and Samajwadi
Party MLA Shahnavaz Khan from visiting strife-hit Bareilly. Two leaders were
supposed to travel to the city by train to speak with police officers, but they
were confined to their homes. Since then, a police unit has stood vigil outside
their residences. Masood told reporters at his home, We follow Gandhian
ideology. We were to depart for Bareilly at 6.50 a.m. to meet DIG and ADG,
returning by 1.30 p.m. However, the
government uses such measures to conceal its failings.” When asked if their
visit had worsened the situation in Bareilly, Masood responded that the
government and police had created an unnatural situation. Muslims are being selectively targeted. We are subject to one set of laws while
others are subject to another.
