Dr. Nilratan Sarkar (1861-1943) is known not only for elevating medical education to new heights but also for playing a pioneering role in providing healthcare to the general public. His inspiration shaped the medical system and he also made significant contributions to social causes.
In his memory, Kolkata's renowned Nilratan Sarkar Medical College and Hospital continues to be considered a symbol of excellence in medical service.
