Kolkata, 1 October (H.S.):West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday paid homage to one of India’s most iconic music composers and singers, Sachin Dev Burman, on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister lauded the maestro’s unmatched contribution to Indian music. “S.D. Burman elevated Indian music to new heights with his extraordinary singing and compositions. His melodies continue to enchant generations of listeners,” she wrote.
Born into the royal family of Tripura, S.D. Burman went on to become one of the most celebrated figures in both Hindi and Bengali cinema. Known for blending folk influences with classical depth, he created timeless songs that remain cherished across decades. From soulful ballads to vibrant tunes, his music continues to resonate with audiences even today.
Banerjee urged people to remember and honor Burman’s invaluable contribution to Indian cinema and music. “On this special day, let us all come together to recall his legacy and express our gratitude for his artistic brilliance,” she said.
