Howrah, 1 October (H.S.) Unidentified assailants shot a man on Vinod Bihari Bose Road in Howrah city on the night of Ashtami. The man died in the incident.

According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Suresh Yadav, a resident of Gopalganj district, Bihar. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. when Suresh Yadav was walking on the road. Suddenly, 5-6 young men on motorcycles approached him and opened fire. The attackers fled the scene after the shootout.

Seriously injured Suresh Yadav was taken to Howrah District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. On information, senior Howrah City Police officers arrived at the scene. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined, and the police have launched a manhunt for the assailants.

The police said Suresh Yadav had arrived in Howrah two days ago to attend a housewarming ceremony at a relative's home. According to reports, Suresh Yadav's wife is the head of a panchayat in Gopalganj district. Suresh and his wife have been accused of various anti-social activities there. The police are also investigating whether the murder stemmed from that rivalry.
