Lucknow,
01 Oct (HS): Representatives of the Sikh community protested at Parivartan
Chowk, Lucknow, on Wednesday against a derogatory remark made by a Maulana from
Maharashtra against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A large
number of Sikhs gathered and chanted, We are with Yogi. Angered by
the remarks against the Chief Minister, the protesters demanded an apology from
the Maulana. Sikh representatives from several districts participated in the
protest. Sardar Parvinder Singh, General Secretary of the Guru Govind Singh
Seva Samiti, stated that the Sikh community respects all religions. He added
that the statement made by the Maulana from Maharashtra is highly objectionable
and angering the community. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is not only the
Chief Minister of the state but also the head of the Gorakhnath Peeth. The Sikh
community cannot tolerate his insult.
Sardar
Parvinder Singh said that Yogi Adityanath holds the Sikh community in the
highest regard. Through the District Magistrate, we are sending a memorandum to
the Prime Minister demanding strict action against those making such comments.
Sardar Rajendra Singh, who came from Kanpur, said that anyone making
objectionable comments about Chief Minister Yogi cannot be a true Muslim. The
Sikh community strongly condemns this.
