Guwahati, October 1 (HS):All-rounder Deepti Sharma has etched her name in the record books by becoming the second-highest wicket-taker for India in women’s One-Day Internationals, surpassing former spinner Neetu David.
The milestone came during the opening match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, where India defeated Sri Lanka by 59 runs. Deepti dismissed Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu and later Kavisha Dilhari to claim her 142nd ODI wicket, overtaking Neetu David’s tally of 141.
She further strengthened her record by removing Anushka Sanjeewani, taking her total to 143 wickets.Deepti’s spell proved pivotal in India’s victory, reaffirming her stature as one of the team’s most reliable performers.
