Gehlot asks former CJI, Gogoi, was you right before or now

29/11/2019

New Delhi, Nov29
(HS):
 Describing the current situation
in the country as "worrisome", Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday
referred to the incident of a press conference by four judges of the Supreme
Court two years ago and said that former Chief Justice (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi
should now tell that he Was right before or after.

Gehlot was
participating in the discussion on the Constitution and fundamental duties of
India in the Legislative Assembly to mark 70 years of the adoption of the
Indian Constitution.

He said that
four judges of the Supreme Court said that democracy in the country is under
threat. The whole country was stunned. What message did this give to the world?
The four said that democracy is threatened in the country and imagine that one
of them became the Chief Justice of the country. So ask someone Mr. Ranjan whether
the allegations you had with the first four people were correct or did the same
things which were going on after becoming CJI, they are correct, tell which is
right.

Gehlot said
that now he is not a CJI, he should tell the country, the country wants to know
from him that what happened to you after the four judges had made some
allegations in the press conference. You suddenly changed later. The process of
Supreme Court which was earlier continued in your era. This mystery remains. The
secret must be revealed. The public should know.

It is
noteworthy that in January 2018, former CJI Gogoi held a press conference along
with Justice J Chelameswar, Justice MB Lokur and Justice Kurian Joseph on the functioning of the Supreme Court and allocation of cases.

Gehlot said
that there are such situations in the country that on one side the judiciary is
under pressure. Raids are being conducted one by one from the Income Tax
Department, ED, CBI. If any intellectual criticizes the government on a
personal level, then a case of treason is registered. Is it written in the
constitution?
