UP is growing as
a hub for investment due to its 21 new policies: Chief Secretary

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari has said that several eye-
catching initiatives have been taken to attract investors and meaningful
efforts are being taken to provide compatible atmosphere for establishing
industries in the state. Uttar Pradesh has immense possibilities for
establishment of industries and investments. The state is growing as a hub for
investment due to its 21 new policies.


He also added
that as per number of micro, small & medium Enterprises, Uttar Pradesh rank
first in the country. He said through investor summit, first ground breaking
ceremony and second ground breaking ceremony and through several other events, foundation
stone has been laid for the investment of various projects estimating about 2
lac crore in the state, which would provide employment to about 5 lac people.
Similarly, Defense industrial manufacturing corridor has also been inaugurated
in Bundelkhand, which promises employment for 2.5 lac people.


Chief Secretary expressed
his views after inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh Mandap at the Indian
International Trade Fair-2019 being held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. He informed that 46,220
applications of entrepreneurs were disposed through the Nivesh Mitra Portal.
The Business Reform Action Plan is in force under Ease of Doing Business. Uttar
Pradesh is among the leading states with a score of 92.87 percent in the county.


He also said
that 'One district-one product' scheme has been started with an aim of
preserving and developing local crafts / skills and arts, increase employment
and income, improve product quality, remove economic inequality etc. He also
added that One district-One-product summit-2018 (ODOP) has been organized and
loan of about Rs 18 thousand 345 crore has been disbursed to 1,91,191
beneficiaries. About 5 lacs skilled people will get employment from ODOP and
export of more than Rs.1 lac 14 thousand crore was done in the state, which is
more than Rs. 25 thousand crore from the previous years.


Tiwari said that
the selected product under 'One district-One product' are- Locks and hardware
of Aligarh, Leather products of Agra and Kanpur, Mechanical products of
Ghaziabad, Terracotta products of Gorakhpur, Glass products of Firozabad,
Carpets of Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Silk Products of Varanasi, Perfume of
Kannauj, Zari Zardozi of Unnao, Chikankari Products of Lucknow. He said that the
'One District-One Product' scheme has four sub-schemes - ODP Financing
Assistance Scheme, ODP Marketing Incentive Scheme, ODOP Skill Development and
Tool Kit Distribution Scheme, ODDP General Facility Center Incentive Scheme.


The Chief
Secretary said that this fair is an excellent medium for branding and publicity
of various schemes running under Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises
department like - One district-One product scheme, “Vishwakarma Shram Samman”
scheme and Uttar Pradesh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Policy
etc. He said, “This fair is a platform of union of buyer / seller, which helps
handicrafts and MSME manufacturers to coordinate with the buyers of their
products. Due to the high level of business done by the units of the state, this
fair is very popular among the general public.”


The theme of the
India International Trade Fair-2019 is based on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ this
year. For this, Uttar Pradesh has been allotted two places of 306 sq mt and 102
sq mt respectively in Hall no. 12A.


Secretary, MSME& Export Promotion Navneet Sehgal, CEO, Greater Noida
Authority Narendra Bhusan, Director, Industry Gaurav Dayal and other senior
officers were present during the event.
