INX case: Supreme Court reserves the verdict on Chidambaram bail plea

New Delhi,
Nov 28 (HS): Former Home Minister P Chidambaram arrested in INX Media case did
not get any relief on Thursday and the Supreme Court has reserved the verdict
on his bail plea. During the hearing, the ED bluntly stated in the Supreme
Court that she wants to arrest Karti Chidambaram too. Karti will be arrested as
soon as the protection is removed.

During the
hearing, Kapil Sibal said that P Chidambaram has become kingpin due to Karthi's
father. If the son committed the crime, should the father be sent to jail? Why
didn't the ED bring the will on record?

The ED has
given two notes to the Supreme Court in Seal cover. Now the Supreme Court will
decide whether to grant bail to P Chidambaram in the ED case in the INX Media
case. Chidambaram has already got bail in the CBI case. Even in the ED case, if
the Supreme Court gives bail to Chidambaram, then he will come out of jail.
Today, on Thursday, 100 days have been completed while Chidambaram is in police
or judicial custody.

General Mehta further said that the accused were on the post of Finance
Minister. He is a very influential person. We have documents to show that he
has sufficient control over very important witnesses, whether he is in our
custody or not.

Mehta said that documentary evidence shows that e-mail was being exchanged on
behalf of the accused. The property of the accused has been found outside the
country. They were either part of money laundering or the owners of companies.
