Lucknow, 09 June (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath has inaugurated Project GANGA (Government Assisted Network for
Growth and Advancement), which aims to link over 20 lakh homes to high-speed
rural broadband and establish 8,000 to 10,000 local digital entrepreneurs
across the state's Nyaya Panchayat. The program seeks to establish a
sustainable digital ecosystem at the grassroots level while creating over 1
lakh direct and indirect employment.
The project would prepare local youngsters to work as
independent DSPs, providing high-speed internet, telemedicine, e-governance,
and online education directly to village homes. The government has set a goal
of 50% involvement by rural women among these selected enterprises. Selected
digital entrepreneurs receive direct cash aid, structured skills training,
network infrastructure support, and contemporary technological capabilities to
help them operate their enterprises effectively.
Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh's chief minister, claims that
there are 825 development blocks and 8,000 Nyaya Panchayats. “We want to create
a digital entrepreneurship program designed exclusively for these 8,000 Nyaya
Panchayats, with the ultimate objective of expanding it to all 57,700 Gram
Panchayats. NITI Aayog has recognised
our 'Gram Sachivalaya' (Village Secretariat) concept. Our Gram Sachivalayas are
not only one-room facilities; they have four to six rooms and digital
libraries. Importantly, residents may receive crucial papers like as income,
residency, birth, death, and caste certificates from inside the village,
avoiding the need to go to block or district headquarters. All of these services are accessible locally,”
he informed.
Developed in conjunction with the Hinduja Group, the program
establishes a rural digital ecosystem around the following:
Digital Entrepreneurship: The initiative enables youngsters (with a 50% female
participation aim) at the Nyaya Panchayat level to establish digital companies.
Each of these businesses will provide 200-300 houses with internet, IPTV, OTT
access, CCTV, and cybersecurity.
The plan intends to create more than 1 lakh direct and indirect job
opportunities.
Rural Empowerment: Villagers would be able to access important services such as
telemedicine, online vocational training, digital libraries, and e-governance
solutions without leaving their native place.
In a post on X, he mentioned, “To give a new momentum to the
Digital Entrepreneurship campaign in the state, 'Project Ganga' (Government
Assisted Network for Growth and Advancement) was inaugurated today in Lucknow. This
innovative initiative advances the resolve of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi
ji's 'Digital India', which forms a strong foundation for building a 'Developed
India' and 'Self-Reliant India'. Heartfelt thanks to the UP Transformation
Commission, IT and Electronics Department, and the Hinduja Group, and
congratulations to the residents of the state.”
