4.27 Crore Pages on RailTel Cloud, Massive Office Space

Freed, 50% Reduction in Paper Usage

Prayagraj, 09 June (HS): In a landmark achievement towards

“Digital India” & “Digital Railway” missions, North Central Railway has

digitized almost 100% of its records as on 08.06.2026. The massive exercise was

initiated in January 2026 under the visionary leadership of N.P. Singh, General

Manager, NCR and executed on ground under the supervision of Atul Mishra, Dy.

General Manager/G, NCR.

Key Highlights of the Drive

1. Unprecedented Scale: 3.27 Crore pages digitized across 3

Divisions, 6 Workshops/Units, Training Institutes & HQ. Additional 1 Crore

pages of Construction Organization also digitized. Total: 4.27 Crore pages.

2. 100% Completion: NCR-HQ, WRWS-JHS, CMLR-JHS, RCNK-JHS,

CPOH-PRYJ & RSK/STLI have achieved full digitization.

3. Secure Cloud Storage: Entire data has been secured on

RailTel’s Cloud Infrastructure, ensuring seamless retrieval, data security and

disaster recovery.

Beyond Digitization: Weeding Out & Sustainability

The drive was coupled with an intensive weeding out campaign

of obsolete records as per Railway Board guidelines:

- Agra Division: 2.4 MT records weeded out

- Jhansi Division: 1.87 Crore pages weeded out

- CMLR Workshop: 30,000 copies weeded out

- Prayagraj Division: Weeding of 1.5 Crore copies (2004-15)

is under process

Tangible Benefits

1. Office Space Optimization: Weeding out has freed up

massive office space across NCR, which is being converted into modern,

clutter-free workspaces for staff.

2. Paperless Working: Creation of physical files has been

stopped in NCR except for Legal & Vigilance matters.

3. Environmental Impact: Paper procurement has been reduced

by 50% this financial year, contributing significantly to environmental

conservation.

4. Enhanced Efficiency: Instant access to decades-old

records has improved administrative efficiency and public service delivery.

N.P. Singh, GM/NCR, said, This achievement reflects

NCR’s commitment to Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Digital India vision. Digitization

is not just about scanning papers, it’s about transforming work culture. I

congratulate the entire NCR team for achieving this in record 6 months. This

initiative marks NCR as one of the frontrunners in Indian Railways in achieving

near-total digitization and sets a benchmark for other zones.
