New Delhi, 09 June (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi High Court’s order concerning O-Zone matters applies only to new constructions and does not pertain to existing settlements or population.

A high-level meeting was held on Tuesday at the Delhi Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. It was decided that efforts would soon be made to meet Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to work out a coordinated solution to the issue of removing O-Zone restrictions from several old villages and 92 colonies in Delhi. The information was shared on the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Delhi social media account.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister clarified that in villages and colonies currently falling under the O-Zone category, no demolition of existing settlements is permitted. She stated that the High Court order applies only to new constructions.

It was also decided in the meeting that a delegation led by the Chief Minister would soon meet Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar to take forward the matter.

The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Manoj Tiwari, and Praveen Khandelwal; Yamuna Development Board Chairman and MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely; Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma; Municipal Corporation of Delhi Commissioner Sanjeev Khairwar; and senior officials of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
