Domestic stock exchanges observed a holiday today for Holi, halting all trading on BSE and NSE amid celebrations across much of India on March 3 and 4.Per the annual holiday calendar from BSE and NSE, no equity, derivatives, or currency trading occurred today. MCX suspended morning sessions but resumed normal operations from 5 PM to 11 PM.
March and Full-Year Holiday Schedule
March features three trading holidays beyond weekends: today for Holi, March 26 for Ram Navami, and March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti. The 2026 calendar lists 16 total holidays, with January already accounting for two; April includes Good Friday (April 3) and Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14).
May holidays cover Maharashtra Day (May 1) and Bakrid (May 28), followed by Muharram on June 26. No closures in July or August—Independence Day (August 15) falls on a Saturday. September's Ganesh Chaturthi (14th), October's Gandhi Jayanti (2nd) and Dussehra (20th), November's Diwali (10th) and Guru Nanak Jayanti (24th), and Christmas (December 25) complete the list.
