Kathmandu,Nepal, 03 March (H.S.): Nepal has sealed its borders with India and China from midnight today until March 5 evening to ensure peaceful, fair, and orderly House of Representatives elections on March 5.Joint meetings of district administrations and security officials informed Indian and Chinese counterparts beforehand. The government aims to curb illicit activities, criminal crossovers, illegal funds, and campaign materials during this period.

Heightened Vigilance on Open India Border

Home administration has bolstered deployments of Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and other agencies at border points. Additional Inspector General Uma Chaturvedi of Nepal Police, tasked with special oversight on the India frontier, stated strict monitoring of civilian movement.

Essential services like fuel vehicles, emergency medical transport, and authorised vehicles will pass post-verification, with extra caution on the porous India border to prevent external interference.
