Britannia Industries faces a ₹6.37 crore GST demand notice, including a ₹4.24 crore penalty, for incorrectly classifying supplied goods between FY 2020-21 and 2023-24, resulting in alleged underpayment of taxes.

Issued under Section 74 of the CGST Act by the Thane Commissionerate of CGST and Central Excise, the order demands ₹2.12 crore in tax plus penalty, with additional interest applicable. The company disclosed this in a stock exchange filing, asserting no material impact on its business or finances and plans to pursue legal remedies.
