
New Delhi, 12 March (H.S.): India's retail inflation rose to 3.21% in February from 2.74% in January, based on the new Consumer Price Index (CPI) series with 2024 as the base year.The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released National Statistical Office (NSO) data Thursday, attributing the uptick primarily to higher food, beverages, and fuel prices.
Rural inflation hit 3.37% (up from 2.73%), while urban areas saw 3.02% (from 2.75%).Food inflation stood at 3.47% overall—3.46% rural and 3.48% urban—driven by vegetables, meat, fish, and eggs; the rate remains within RBI's 2-6% target.
