Chennai, 03 Oct (H.S.): DMK president and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will address a public meeting in Madurantakam today, seeking support for party candidate Paranthaman as campaigning for the October 6 Assembly bypoll enters its final stretch.

The rally comes a day before public campaigning concludes on Sunday. Madurantakam is witnessing a five-cornered contest, with rival parties intensifying voter outreach and bringing their senior leaders to the constituency for the closing round of canvassing.

Several DMK functionaries are expected to attend Stalin’s meeting. Local organisers were making preparations yesterday for the gathering, which will be among the party’s final major campaign events in the constituency.

Stalin’s appearance will give Paranthaman’s campaign a prominent platform to present the party’s appeal to voters before the deadline for public canvassing. DMK workers and functionaries are preparing to participate in the programme as the party seeks to consolidate support.

Political activity has also intensified in Dharapuram, which will vote alongside Madurantakam on Tuesday, October 6. Senior leaders of competing parties have been travelling to both constituencies this week to campaign for their respective candidates.

In Madurantakam, leaders have been camping in the constituency and organising meetings to strengthen their candidates’ prospects. The presence of five contenders has sharpened the competition, making the remaining campaign engagements significant for each party.

The final weekend offers candidates an opportunity to reach voters through public meetings and other campaign programmes. Parties are seeking to maintain momentum while completing their scheduled events before canvassing ends.

For the DMK, today’s rally represents a key engagement in that closing effort, placing Stalin at the centre of its appeal for Paranthaman.

After today’s meetings, attention will shift to Sunday’s final round of campaigning in both seats. Candidates and party workers will then prepare for polling on October 6, when voters choose their representatives.
