New Delhi, 7 December (H.S.): Indian women’s cricket vice-captain and star batter Smriti Mandhana on Sunday confirmed that her marriage to musician Palash Muchhal has been called off, putting an end to weeks of widespread speculation surrounding their relationship. Both Mandhana and Muchhal issued separate official statements through Instagram Stories, requesting privacy and urging people to refrain from spreading further rumours.
In her social media statement, Mandhana wrote, “Over the past few weeks, there have been several rumours about my personal life. Though I prefer to keep matters private, I believe it’s important to clarify that the wedding has been cancelled. I request everyone to respect both our families’ privacy and allow us the space and time to move forward.”
The 29-year-old cricketer further stated that her primary focus remains on representing India at the highest level. “I believe every person has a larger purpose, and for me, that purpose has always been serving my country through cricket. My focus will remain on playing for India and bringing more trophies home,” she added while thanking fans for their support.
Muchhal, in a separate post, confirmed that he has decided to move on and step back from his personal relationships. “It’s been extremely painful to see unfounded rumours being spread so casually about something sacred to me. This is the toughest phase of my life, but I choose to stand firm in my faith and move forward,” his statement read.
He also warned of legal action against those spreading false rumours, emphasizing the need for society to avoid forming opinions based on unverified information.
The wedding between Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal was initially scheduled for November 23, 2025, but was postponed indefinitely after Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden health complication.
In the aftermath, unverified reports of the couple’s alleged fallout surfaced online, triggering a wave of speculation. With their latest public statements, both Mandhana and Muchhal have officially confirmed that the wedding has been called off, bringing clarity to the situation.
