New Delhi, 7 December (H.S.): Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday inaugurated the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Om Shanti Retreat Centre of the Brahma Kumaris in Gurugram, emphasising that India’s eternal spiritual heritage is deeply rooted in the penance and meditative practices of its ancient sages and seers.

According to a statement from the Vice President’s Secretariat, Radhakrishnan noted that the centre, established 24 years ago, has now entered its 25th year of service. He hailed the Brahma Kumaris organisation for playing a significant role in the nation’s spiritual advancement under the leadership of women, saying that professionals from various fields — including scientists, physicians, administrators, and legislators — have been seeking peace and inspiration through its programmes.

Highlighting the essence of inner strength, he said that disciplines such as Raja Yoga and Vipassana demonstrate that true power and clarity emerge from within. The Vice President further remarked that in the ongoing Amrit Kaal, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the “Developed India 2047” mission, internal peace, happiness, and balance must become central to human life.

Radhakrishnan commended the Om Shanti Retreat Centre for its exemplary contribution to environmental preservation, noting that its initiatives align with the Prime Minister’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). He lauded the centre’s efforts, including a 1-megawatt hybrid solar project, rainwater harvesting, biogas plant, sewage treatment facility, green kitchen, and extensive tree plantation drives.

The Vice President also appreciated the Brahma Kumaris’ initiatives promoting a drug-free India, respect for senior citizens, and the practice of karma yoga. Referring to the campaign “World Unity and Trust through Rajyoga Meditation”, launched by President Droupadi Murmu in Lucknow, Radhakrishnan expressed confidence that the Silver Jubilee year would mark a new chapter in spiritual awakening and social harmony.

The event was attended by Haryana’s Environment and Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh, along with senior members of the Brahma Kumaris organisation and other dignitaries.
