
New Delhi, 7 December (H.S.): The UMEED (Unified Management and Empowerment for Efficient Development) Central Portal, launched by Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju on June 6, 2025, officially concluded its six-month upload window on December 6, 2025 (Saturday). This crucial deadline, executed under the provisions of the UMEED Act, 1995, and in accordance with the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, marks a major milestone in the transparent and digital management of Waqf properties across India.
As the deadline approached, momentum surged nationwide with a sharp rise in uploads during the final hours. A total of 5,17,040 Waqf properties were initiated on the portal, of which 2,16,905 properties received official approval from designated authorities.
Additionally, 2,13,941 property entries were successfully submitted and remain under verification, while 10,869 entries were rejected after due scrutiny.To ensure smooth implementation, the Ministry of Minority Affairs organized continuous capacity-building initiatives for Waqf Boards and Minority Departments across States and Union Territories.
Notably, a two-day Master Trainer Workshop was held in New Delhi, providing hands-on training to officials involved in the uploading process.Seven zonal review meetings, several technical workshops, and more than twenty review sessions led by Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, played a vital role in maintaining the project’s progress.
Senior technical teams were deployed across the country, supported by a dedicated helpline established at the Ministry’s headquarters to resolve real-time issues during the upload phase.The Ministry emphasized that the successful completion of this upload period underlines the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the management of Waqf assets.
The data digitized through the UMEED Portal is now set to form the backbone for an integrated, technology-driven Waqf property management system, enabling better oversight and public accessibility.The conclusion of this phase stands as a key step toward a digitally empowered, transparent, and unified national architecture for Waqf property governance, reinforcing the Ministry’s drive toward inclusive modernization.
