KATHMANDU, 4 November (H.S.): Five mountaineers were rescued by helicopter on Tuesday, a day after a deadly avalanche struck their camp in Nepal's Dolakha district, but seven others remain missing. The bodies of three deceased climbers were recovered on Monday.

According to Narayan Prasad Rijal, the Chief District Officer of Dolakha, the five survivors were airlifted from the base camp of Yalung Ri. The group of 15 climbers, associated with two different travel companies, was camped for an expedition to the Dolma Khang and Yalung Ri mountains when the disaster struck.

While five have been rescued and three are confirmed dead, the status of the seven missing individuals is still unknown.DSP Gyan Kumar Mahato of the District Police Office stated that a joint team comprising the Nepali Army and other security agencies has been dispatched to the site to bolster the search and rescue operations.
