Delhi, 4 November (H.S.): Budget airline SpiceJet announced on Tuesday the appointment of seasoned aviation professional Sanjay Kumar, formerly of IndiGo, as its new Executive Director. Kumar, who assumed the role on Monday, November 3, will lead the airline's strategic growth, transformation, and expansion plans.

In his new capacity, Kumar will oversee the airline's strategic initiatives and report directly to SpiceJet's Chairman and Managing Director, Ajay Singh. His appointment is aimed at steering the company through its next phase of growth, focusing on fleet expansion, network growth, and strengthening its financial position.

Kumar brings over three decades of extensive experience in the aviation sector. His career includes a significant tenure at IndiGo, where he served for 12 years as Chief Commercial Officer and three years as Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer. He also held the position of Chief Operating Officer at AirAsia India for more than a year.

This marks a return for Kumar to SpiceJet, where he worked in the airline's early years.We are delighted to welcome Sanjay back to the SpiceJet family, said Ajay Singh.
